Steele wins RNC Chair!!!

Good News!!! Michael Steele is now the RNC Chairman!  I’ve been rooting for him since the beginning, so I am very excited.

It should be very interesting to see what he does to try to get the Republican party back into the spotlight.  Most would say that the Republican party is in a bad position.  But, the party is given a very big opportunity to go back to Conservative principles, as opposed to the “moderate” or “compassionate” conservatism that has been in effect the past 8 years. While Democrats are clearly going further left every election cycle, it will be very easy to distinguish themselves from the liberal Democratic (aka European Socialist) party.

The 5,000 Year Leap

All of our problems today can be solved by returning to our founding principles.  It is time we learn the FREEDOM principles of our Founding Fathers.  If any of you ever take anything I say seriously, let it be this.  Read the book “The 5,000 Year Leap”

This is the type of book that Ronald Reagan wanted all of our high school students to read, and Ted Kennedy didn’t.  It is such an easy read, and your jaw will just drop at everything in it.

We need to learn who we are, and what the other systems of governance are about.  We need to learn why America is so amazing.  We need to learn about America’s free enterprise system. We need to learn why we are only 6% of the world population, yet create over half of the world’s wealth every single year.

We should know why collectivism is wrong.  We should know why federal supervision will lower our standards of living and reduce our productivity, just as it has in every other country that has tried it.

This book has 28 principles that led America to what it is today, creating freedom and prosperity like no other country ever has.  Among these are:

- All mankind are created equal
- All of mankind is endowed by God with certain unalienable rights
- Without religion, the government of a free people cannot be maintained
- The United States of America shall be a REPUBLIC
- A free people cannot survive under a Republican government unless they are virtuous and morally strong
- The most promising method of securing a virtuous people is electing virtuous leaders
- The proper role of government is to protect equal RIGHTS, not provide equal THINGS
- The majority of the people may alter or abolish a government which has become Tyrannical
- “Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations– entangling alliances with none”
- The core unit which determines the strength of any society is the FAMILY
- The burden of debt is destructive to human freedom
- The United States of America has a destiny to eventually become a glorious example of God’s law under a restored Constitution that will inspire the entire human race

Here’s a video that a guy made, inspired by the book:

My take on Bush

Since Bush will be leaving office very soon, I wanted to take the opportunity to show my thanks to him.  I think that it’s clear that he has made multiple mistakes, and sometimes I thought he was just fat out wrong on a couple issues.  But I’m thankful that he was president these past 8 years, and here’s why.

I’ll go down a list of issues that I’ll grade him on.  I’d like to see what you guys think as well.

National Security - A

This will be the main part of his “legacy.”  I bet every single person on this board expected there would be another attack after 9/11.  He did what it took to stop further attacks.  He set up a very efficent and effective infrastructure to intercept and stop funding to and from terrorist organizations, and prevent firther attacks.  And everything that he did was legal.

Iraq - B

It didn’t go perfectly, but we have won in Iraq, despite people trying to undermine and assault the troops and the Commander-in-Chief.  I think history will judge the decision to go into Iraq much more fairly than now.  It’s hard to say what the world would be like if we didn’t go, but it’s one less dictator that we’ll have to deal with.  As the years go on, we will also have a strong ally in the Middle East, other than Israel, which will be incredibly helpful in the future.  Oh yeah, and we liberated 50 million people.

Afghanistan - C

We should have waited until we were finished in Afghanistan before we went into Iraq.  We need way more troops there.  We’ll see what Obama does.

Economy - C

I would have given him an A until a few months ago.  His tax cuts created millions of jobs and lead 52 months of uninterrupted economic growth.  But his massive spending and his failure to use free market solutions has made him look like a joke.  I know all of these bailouts is more so because of Paulson and Congress, but he allowed all of it to happen.

Other foreign policy - A

He has handled North Korea, Russia, and Iran very well.  There was a time about a year or two ago that looked like the 3rd World War was coming, but he has dealt with all of them effectively.

Africa - A++

Bush doesn’t get much publicity for this, but he’s done more for Africa than any other person in history.  I didn’t even know this until last year, when I had a 33 year old African woman in a class of mine, and she told us about it.  After doing a little bit of research, he has tripled funding to Africa.  According to the NY Times, 1.4 million Africans have received life saving treatment from American funding.  That number was only 50,000 before his initiative.

Illegal Immigration - D

He’s been terrible on immigration policy.  That’s really all I can say.

Bottom line is, you may not have agreed with his decisions on tough issues, but at least he has made those tough decisions, and stuck with them.  I have an incredible amount of respect for the man.  He’s very classy and has more character than Obama will ever have.

Let the bush bashing begin.  :crash:

Joe the Plumber heading to Israel

Joe the Plumber is heading to Israel to cover the Israel-Hamas conflict for PJTV.

Joe the Plumber is taking on a new job.

The Ohio man, who became famous during the U.S. presidential campaign after asking Barack Obama about his tax plan, is heading to Israel as a war correspondent for a conservative Web site called pjtv.com.

Dubbed “Joe the Plumber” by McCain’s campaign, Samuel “Joe” Wurzelbacher was held up as an example of an American worker who would be hurt economically by Obama’s election.

Wurzelbacher says he’ll spend 10 days covering the fighting and explaining why Israeli forces are mounting attacks against Hamas.

He tells WNWO-TV in Toledo that he wants “go over there and let their ‘Average Joes’ share their story.”

Myths of the Rich and the Poor

I don’t know too much about Drew Carey and his political views, but this video is great.  The left always wants to make things seem way worse then they are.  According to the left, we’ve been in a depression for the past 4 years.  And when the economy is actually in a slow-down, they use it as a vehicle to promote their evident socialist agenda and impose policies that take away our liberty.  Remember, whatever the government can give, they can take away.  This is, in essence, soft tyranny.

Obama warns of years of Trillian Dollar Deficits

This is not shocking to me. It was only a matter of time before the real facts came from Obama after his campaign full of empty rhetoric.
